New Worlds

It's a busy old summer at True Stories towers. I have a table at the International Comics Expo (ICE) in Birmingham on the 2nd August, where I'll be premiering new sci-fi series New Worlds. In addition I'll be selling Angel Nebula, Frontiers (and hopefully Dark Weather) trades, as well as Outcastes and a plethora of back issues.

New Worlds is an idea that's been percolating in my head for a couple of years, so it's great to finally make a start. It's the story of the remarkable life of child of the stars Eden Rose, whose travels takes her to wondrous and terrible new worlds. As I could only imagine it in full colour and each chapter varies in length, serialising it online seems the ideal solution. It's the first strip I've produced fully digitally (and in a short space of time), so it's proven a real learning experience.

You can read the New Worlds prologue in full over at newworlds.co.nf. Future instalments will appear there following the completion of the long delayed final issue of Outcastes. There will be a few print copies of New Worlds which I'll be giving away at the ICE con with any purchase of one of the 3 book collections. Hope to see you there.

Angel Nebula & Frontiers Collections

I'm very pleased to announce that Angel Nebula and Frontiers are now available in deluxe collected editions!

It's long been a goal of mine to collect all my series into trade paperbacks, kicking off with digitally restored deluxe editions of both True Stories Comics sci-fi sagas. Angel Nebula collects all 9 issues in a US size 176 page book. Frontiers clocks in at 172 pages, collecting all 8 issues plus the #0 prologue. You can order them for just £10 each from the True Stories Comics store at Lulu. They should also be available to buy from other stockists including Amazon very shortly.

If you'd prefer digital comics, they're available on this website for direct PDF download for £5 each:

Frontiers

To complete the set, due later this year are collections of Dark Weather and Outcastes. As always I'll keep you posted on progress.

New Year's Resolutions

After a quiet spell, 2014 is shaping up to be a big year for True Stories Comics...

This year will see the conclusion of Outcastes, with #11 due out in February, followed by the final issue #12 around June. Due to recent increases in printing costs (the price has more than doubled since #9 came out), the final 3 issues will instead be printed as a single volume. #10 is already available in PDF format, and the final two will digitally follow shortly.

In rather spiffing news, Eva Nova has been accepted on to digital comics outlet Comixology, and will launch tomorrow. It's a slow process, but I'm hoping to get the rest of my titles available there soon.

On August 2nd I'll be exhibiting at the International Comics Expo in Birmingham. It's been a few years since the last Brum convention, so I'm planning something special for this one. And no, that doesn't involve dressing up. As well as an Outcastes collection (and hopefully more besides), I'll be unveiling my new project there. Click here for a sneak peek...

Dark Weather restoration

In addition to Outcastes #11, I'm working on a few other projects at the moment, details forthcoming. One long standing goal of mine is to collect all my series into books, starting at the very beginning with the long out of print Dark Weather. The A4 masters I used were lost many years ago by the printers, so I'm having to reconstruct the pages from scans of the original A3 artwork and the few A5 photocopied issues I have remaining.

I'm also doing some minor cleanup and relettering, hopefully without losing the original's pre-computer days charm. Here's a before and after comparison. As you might expect it's a slow painstaking process, which won't be complete until sometime next year. As always, I'll keep you posted.
